The Dragon Reborn - Chapter 2 : Saidin
Ch.2
Symbol : The symbol is the Dragon Fang. The chapter logo makes me think that trouble will be coming real soon dealing with the Dark One’s creatures and overall chaos in the camp making the boys flee for their own safety with Moiraine to guide and protect them (similar to The Eye of the World to some degree).
Chapter title : The chapter title is called Saidin. The title makes me think shadowspawn will Invade the camp of The Dragon Reborn trying to kill Rand, Mat and Perrin and Rand will have no choice but to use the One Power to ward off the Shadowspawn from either killing or taking Perrin, Mat and Rand himself as prisoners for the Dark One or a dark one ( might not even be Ba’alzamon).
Main Points of the Chapter (aka what I thought was important from the chapter)
Mentioned characters (new characters) : Masuto
Min does a reading on Leya- can’t believe the reading said that she will die and she tells Perrin she also saw Leya covered in blood. I’m thinking it’s not her blood but someone else’s.
Perrin is contemplating telling Leya that she’ll die at some point and Rand thinks he can figure out whether she’ll die by violence and he thinks it could mean an attack on the camp somehow.
Perrin is thinking maybe he can figure out whether she’ll die if the camp is attacked or not.
Min came from being an inn type girl to traveling alongside the group and had numerous times to turn back but she didn’t. That being said she’s probably not used to being with Tarveren let alone three of them and I bet Min thought she didn’t have a say in the matter but then Loial comforts her and is like it's all okay.
Perrin shouts and expresses he probably never wanted to be tangled with Aes Sedai from the beginning.
No one but Rand goes to the tunnel-like area after having arguments with Moiraine. I found this interesting and I feel we’ll see more of this in the future since we know they have been arguing over the same thing.
The part where Rand for example raised the Dragon banner and now people are dying and Moiraine has said not to intervene really brought emotions. I can tell Rand thinks it’s partially his fault because he raised the banner and has done nothing but staying in the mountains.
I felt at the end of chapter two when Perrin mentions dreams this came to mind as potential foreshadowing. What I think the dreams will mean : I’m thinking the dreams will give Rand visions of how to do some things regarding being the Dragon Reborn and that it’s not something to be taken lightly and that his dreams might also be visions to some degree about how to do things Moraine has told him to avoid and take things into his own hands.
Afterthoughts
I found the description of the Dragon jacket to be really cool and awesome.
When Rand channeled to create the earthquake was super awesome and that scene took me by surprise. I really hope that scene somehow makes it into the show.
Point of View at the end of the chapter
This chapter is from the Point of View of Perrin.
