The Great Hunt - Chapter 25 : Cairhein

 














Ch25 


  • Symbol : it’s a symbol of a rising sun possibly it’s the sun of Cairhein perhaps  and might be referring to something else more specific entirely. 


  • Chapter title : Cairhein  is probably stating that they finally make it to Cairhein the capital city. I’m thinking maybe Moiraine and Lan might rejoin Rand’s group. 


Introduced characters from Eye of the World : 


THOM —>> reunites  with Rand in Cairhein (it’s been a long while) —>> and Thom wants Rand to give back his harp and flute —>> he was never in Illian like Rand probably thought because that’s where the Hunt started 


  • Thom seems extremely happy to see Rand again !!!


  • I’d have to say of all the recurring characters from Eye of the World  by far Thom has to be one of my absolute favorites !!!!!!! 

Main Points of the Chapter



  • They come into the city 

  • Forgate : town that surrounds the town 


  • Fireworks - probably symbolically reminds  Rand of Emond's  Field (might make him feel at home) 


  • When they enter the city they check in with the gate guard 


  • The people of Cairhein


  •  wore dark clothes with no bright colors except for slashes across the breast of a coat or dress. 


  • Topless Towers of Cairhein - the towers were burnt, cracked and fell ( probably how the towers got their name) 


  • no Ogier like working near the towers but before there were Ogiers when Loial was here before 


  • Hurin didn’t want rooms at an inn in the Forgate because they probably would think they were hiding something ( referring to the horn perhaps) 


  • they are staying at The Defender of the Dragonwall 


  • at the inn they ended up with one room for Loial and Hurin with another room for Rand but had a connecting door between them


  • after the innkeeper left he told Hurin and Loial to conduct a meeting and Rand isn’t too sure about the inn 



  • Rand throwing the invitations into the fire just showed them he’s not playing games. , page 315 


  • Hurin says they think you’re into the game by burning the letters


  • Foregate attire 


  • some wore coats of red, blue ,green or gold

  • most women wore embroidered dresses with colored scarves or shawls 


  • OMG Thom is alive and I wasn’t expecting to see Thom this early in the book. I was crying and internally screaming in excitement to see that Thom is BACK !!!


  •   #Not Dead but very much Alive 


  • I was right with my prediction that Thom wasn’t dead 



  • Daes Dae’ar reminds me of the houses game where they’re trying to be the best and will have things up their sleeves to help their particular house similar to Game of Thrones. 

Point of View at end of the chapter 


  • Rand - ends with Rand reuniting with Thom Merrilin  and is very likely screaming with joy to see Thom is alive and well since they last saw each other from Eye of the World

  Ch.29  Fill out after I read chapter  Symbol : It looks like some sort of helmet. It might go hand in hand with the chapter. This looks like a Seanchan helmet and could just be showing what helmets these people wear.  On the hardcover edition of TGH I’m starting to think the creature on top of the rocks is a Seanchan and same with the ones on the back cover.  Chapter title : The title of the chapter is Seanchan. The Dragon Reborn - Chapters 9-11

  Ch9 - Wolf Dreams  So Aes Sedai can have the power of Dreaming; so what does that mean?  In Perrin’s dream, Who was the bloody man? Oh no the next dream has  Lanfear in it; oh fucking shit this is really bad (there were white pointed archways that led into a bigger room with furniture carved, gilded and inlaid with ivory). This makes me think of the Place in Tear Rand  is trying to get to. Like a way of foretelling events that will eventually happen perhaps.  Page 115 - “ Run now! You must not be here now. Danger. Great Danger. Worse than all the Neverborn. You must go. Go now! Now! ” - I was thinking what “danger” was Hopper referring to in the dream; something horrible/terrifying will happen in the future to Perrin or someone else perhaps.  WTF would Hopper go for Perrin’s throat? We also think he’s dead, but is he really dead; or is this a vision of something terrible to come? But in reality Hopper was just trying to scare Perrin out of the dream...

The Great Hunt - Chapter 45 : Blademaster

Ch.45  - These questions were brought to you by the Gleeman’s Apprentice Podcast.   Nyneave  Nynaeve channeled at the collars of two damane and they fell to the ground.  Initial plan was: Ambush Sul'dam to get dress+a'dam -> one of the girls take dress other where collar -> go to Damane house New plan: Nynaeve just put a sack on the sul’dam’s head and collar the sul’dam’s neck and use the sacked sul’dam to get into the building with all the damane(where Egwene is being held) and they take the sack of the sul’dam’s head before going in.  Nyneave doesn’t want to collar Elayne.  And Nynaeve takes the sul’dam’s dress and they switched  clothes because the dress fit Nynaeve better and the sul’dam was dressed in a dress they prepared earlier to look like a damane dress.  Nynaeve has power over Seta. Seta promised not to tell anyone and she’s the leashed one.  Now they are headed to the a Lion’s Den ( aka where all the damane are kept)....
